Thank you for your interest in applying to the Prison Education Project at UCI.
In light of the current pandemic, we will be emphasizing our digital presence and expanding the club in those ways. Historically, this club's main focus was to volunteer with Prison Education Project. This year we are moving the club in a new direction and focusing on educational material, online advocacy, and digital media projects. We are still volunteering with PEP, but in light of current events this will look a bit different for the 2020-21 year. We have identified three core values to follow when making projects: Education, Social Justice, and Political Advocacy.
The Prison Education Project is an organization that expands educational opportunities for people in prison/juvie in California. By providing academic, life skills, and career development programming, PEP aims to educate, empower, and transform the lives of incarcerated individuals.
In light of the ongoing pandemic, this program will be conducted entirely online. This means the lesson planning and the class session will be conducted over zoom. The program is in the process of determining the class subjects and facilities that will participate.
